LIVING FOR A CAUSE WAS GLAD TO PROVIDE MONEY TO HELP LILY GET THE SURGERY SHE NEEDED TO SAVE HER LEG FROM AMPUTATION. THE FUNDS DONATED TO LILY’S CAUSE WAS FROM A GRANT GIVEN BY PET CO.  WE THANK PET CO FOR SHARING OUR MISSION OF HELPING PET’S IN NEED.  LILY UNDER THE CARE OF DR. LORRAINE MARKS OF ROUND VALLEY HOSPITAL IN LEBANON, NJ WAS ABLE TO SAVE LILY’S LEG. LILY IS NOW ON HER ROAD TO RECOVERY THANKS TO THE EXPERTISE OF DR. MARKS AND HER STAFF. HERE IS THE REQUEST   FROM LILY’S OWNER MICHELLE:

Dear Living For A Cause,

Yesterday my dog Lily, a german shepard/great dane mix, who is only 1 years old, got hit by a car and completely broke her left hind leg. The x-ray shows the bone in 2 pieces in her leg and it broke right at the joint so its hard to put any external splints and casts on her. Surgery was an option, however, im a college student and can’t afford surgery, even a little bit. Surgery costs about $4000. My next option is amputation of the leg. That costs significantly less and I’d much rather do that than surgery because of financial reasons. Also, I really really dont want to put her down. She doesnt have any internal bleeding or ruptured spleens or anything internally wrong. All she has is a leg that is completely broken. Now I could understand putting her down if she had internal problems, however, she is still a puppy and has most of her life to live and she only has a broken leg. I’m trying to do all I can to save her because she’s my little girl and I love her to death. I only had her for 7 months. Could you please possibly help me with the funding?  This would mean so much to me and I’d hate to put down a precious puppy that doesnt deserve to die when it has the rest of its life to live. Even though she may live the rest of her life as a 3 legged dog, at least she got to live.  . It would be very much appreciated! Thank you!

p.s. attached is a picture from today. She has a bandage wrapped around her leg to keep it from getting infected. I’m trying to salvage as many days as I can with her. I really want to save her. :]

Sincerely,

Michelle
